Rental rates vary between each building, and are dependant on the floor & view you select. Talk with a Veda rental agent for more information. Rent is paid on the 1st day of each month. When paid on time, rent includes utilities, unlimited Internet and access to available amenities.

Each suite is approximately 350 sq ft. The main living area is +/-12’-0’’ wide with the bed wall being +/-13’-4’’ long and wall with the desk being +/-17’-1’’ long. The bathroom is +/-5’-0’’ x +/-5’-2’’ excluding the shower which is +/-3’-0’’ x +/-4’-0’’. The entry is +/-6’73/4’’ x +/-7’-81/2’’.

VEDA Building A has a games room, club room, fitness centre and 4 study rooms. Residents of Building B have full access to these amenities.

Yes, the price of rent includes a utilities credit of $50. This covers your monthly hydro, water/sewer, gas, water heater rental, furniture and Internet. As stated in our lease if rent is not paid for on time a $50 charge may be applied. If you consistently use more than $50/month in utilities, you may be charged the difference. (Note: unless using excessive hydro due to additional appliances, or water due to leaving taps/toilets running without reporting them as a maintenance issue, students very rarely exceed the $50 monthly utilities credit, and are given warnings prior to being charged extra.)

Yes, parking is an additional $200/term and can be paid for on a per semester basis. Parking is underground. There are limited parking spaces so they will be reserved on a first come first served basis.

Yes, we have outdoor parking spots available for visitors only, in the driveway at the back of Building B. Visitors must register their vehicle here.

There is a common laundry room in each building with card-operated laundry machines. Machine to reload card is available in Building A laundry room.

Pets are not allowed at VEDA.

Our buildings are located at 840 and 842 Academy Way on a hill overlooking the valley. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to campus depending on your destination & whether or not you have a car.

We offer 3-year lease terms with the option to renew or terminate each year. The minimum lease term is 12 months. If you choose to stay beyond the 12 months, your rental rate will not increase over the 3-year period.

To sign-up, please contact us through phone, email or drop by our office (we’re here Monday-Friday 10am-6pm). We require a security deposit of $450 in cash or cheque to guarantee you a suite. We also accept debit/credit payments online (please contact us prior to making payment). We do our best to accommodate you with the room of your choice. You will receive a link to your lease application via email, which includes tenant forms, signatures and payment method info. Your lease package must be completed within 5 days of receiving your email. Once your application is completed, you will be fully signed up with VEDA!

Our phone and office hours are Monday to Friday from 10am-6pm.

We require a deposit of $450, which you can pay on credit OR debit online via RentMoola. Otherwise, you can mail a cheque to:

Yes, you can sublet your room, in accordance with the lease. Please note, you are still the tenant and you are now acting like a “landlord” for your tenant. You still pay rent to the housing office, and you are responsible for collecting rent from “your tenant”.

Both VEDA buildings are designed with your safety in mind. There is FOB access to the building exclusive to VEDA residents and your own personal key code to your private suite.

VEDA suites are designed for single occupancy only.

The City of Kelowna is in the process of developing a public transport plan for all residents on Academy Way, that will be available within the next year or two.

There is currently development underway of a grocery store near the airport (Nester’s), which is a 5-minute drive from UBCO. There is a Fresh Slice pizza place nearby, a Chinese restaurant across the street, and additional restaurants planned for future development on Academy Way.
